AMS 2 Pro Feeder Unit Replacement: Bambu Lab Will Ship Four Free Feeders Over a May to July 2026 Grease Defect

Bambu Lab is sending four free feeder units to owners of AMS 2 Pro units from a batch whose feeders were made between May and July 2026. The company says those feeders didn’t get enough grease on their gears during production, so the gears wear out faster than expected. Its wiki puts it more cautiously: they “may not have had sufficient grease coverage.”

Bambu posted the AMS 2 Pro feeder unit replacement notice on its forum on Oct. 27. Parts and shipping are free, every covered owner also gets a $20 discount code, and Bambu says AMS 2 Pro units sold on its official stores right now don’t have the problem.

At $39.99 each on Bambu’s US store, four feeders come to about $160 by my math (prices as of Oct. 27). That’s most of the $229 Black Friday price of a whole AMS 2 Pro.

Bambu calls the warranty part “extended.” In practice it’s a new three-month warranty on the replacement feeders, starting the day they arrive, the same length the original feeders had. For owners whose original feeder warranty has already run out, that still adds coverage, but the term itself isn’t longer.

Bambu also admits it “can’t say for sure exactly how many units are affected,” which is why it’s replacing feeders across the whole batch.

AMS 2 Pro Feeder Unit Replacement Eligibility: How to Check Your Serial Number

Affected owners should already have a message in MakerWorld or Bambu Handy. Don’t stop there. The Bambu Lab Wiki FAQ says the serial number check in its registration form is the final word on eligibility. The SN is on the AMS 2 Pro frame or on your printer’s screen.

  • Check every AMS separately. Two units from the same order can come from different batches.
  • Where you bought it doesn’t matter. Reseller, gift and second-hand units all qualify if the SN is in the batch.
  • Register each SN once. If a previous owner already registered it, contact support. A support ticket appears within 1 to 2 business days, and tracking shows up there after shipping.

One early snag: an owner on the forum thread said the registration page kept looping back to a login prompt.

Can You Keep Using an Affected AMS 2 Pro Until the Feeders Arrive?

Yes. A working AMS 2 Pro can stay in service, and you can check how worn the old feeders are before swapping. Contact support if you see powder from gear wear or get loading and unloading failures.

The AMS 2 Pro feeder replacement guide lists H2.0 and H1.5 Allen keys and an estimated 20 minutes for the procedure. Slots 2 and 3 add a step: you loosen two mainboard screws and flip the board to reach them.

A self-swap done with Bambu’s instructions won’t touch your AMS warranty. Already paid for replacement feeders? Send support your SN and proof of purchase to request a refund, which Bambu reviews under its policy. If all four feeders were already swapped, Bambu won’t send more units.

What the AMS 2 Pro Feeder Batch Means for P2S, X2D and Black Friday Buyers

If you own a P2S Combo, X2D Combo or P1S AMS 2 Pro Combo, your AMS 2 Pro could be in the batch. The purchase date doesn’t settle it, so run the SN check instead of guessing. If you’re still deciding on a Combo, our P2S unboxing and setup guide compares the P2S with and without the AMS.

If you’re buying a Combo this Black Friday, my read is that the channel matters more than the timing. Official-store units aren’t affected, and Bambu has arranged to isolate authorized reseller stock. A small number of units from non-official resellers may still be from the batch.

The Bambu Lab Black Friday 2026 prices are on Bambu’s own store, which sidesteps the question. From a marketplace seller, check the SN when the box arrives. If a newly bought unit turns out to be covered, you can apply for a return or exchange within the seller’s return window. Anything not bought from Bambu’s official store, including from a reseller, goes through that seller.

If your AMS 2 Pro already jams, don’t assume it’s this batch. CNC Kitchen’s X2D review, posted in April before this production window, reported slot 1 on its review unit occasionally failing to load and grinding filament. Feeder trouble alone doesn’t prove your unit is covered; the SN check does. If repeated jams have you rethinking the AMS itself, our Bambu Lab AMS alternatives guide compares other multi-color setups.

Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro Feeder Service Program FAQ

Is this an AMS 2 Pro recall?

Bambu calls it a service program for feeder units in certain AMS 2 Pro batches. Covered owners get four free feeder units plus a discount code, and the new parts carry their own warranty.

How do I know if my AMS 2 Pro feeder unit needs replacing?

Enter the AMS 2 Pro serial number in Bambu’s registration form; that result is final. Outside this program, Bambu’s guide lists wheel or motor failure, visible internal damage, or an erratic detection switch as reasons to replace a feeder.

What is the warranty on the replacement AMS 2 Pro feeder units?

Three months from the day the replacements arrive, matching the original feeders. Your AMS 2 Pro’s other parts stay on their original purchase warranty.

AMS 2 Pro Feeder Batch: What’s Still Unknown

Bambu hasn’t published how big the batch is or which serial ranges it covers; the form is the only way to check. It also hasn’t said when the discount code expires or whether it stacks with Black Friday prices.
