To verify any of this, open Bambu’s experienced-hire portal and search UV. The listings are public and each one carries its own posting date. Chinese outlets including 科创板日报 and 21Tech published on August 19, which means the hiring had already been running for more than two weeks before anyone wrote about it.

Varnish goes on top to add a gloss or matte finish, and to build up that stacked relief. xTool’s UV printer runs the identical split across dual heads, one for CMYK and one for white and finish coats.
Read it the other way and the silence is loud. A full-color 3D program needs model resin and dissolvable support resin, plus somebody to own that chemistry. The technical expert posting talks about gloss and ink circulation instead.
That’s my read, and it comes with the obvious caveat. Bambu hasn’t said any of this, job descriptions get written before hardware gets locked, and a company this size can run two programs at once. The vision algorithm listing does remove one ambiguity, though. It names its subject outright as a desktop UV printer.

That wish isn’t new. Back in July 2025, the same subreddit was already speculating about a Bambu color UV resin printer, described at the time as something eufyMake-like that could turn out photo-realistic figurines.
One Chinese trade report suggests that machine is a real internal effort, and a separate one. Huxiu, writing about rival HeyGears in August 2026, cited people familiar with the industry saying Bambu has been doing early-stage research on a print-and-color-simultaneously full-color 3D approach that combines UV inkjet with photocuring. Treat that as unconfirmed. It is one outlet quoting unnamed sources about internal research, it is published in Chinese, and Bambu itself has said nothing.
Two technical walls explain why that track is slower. FDM printing melts plastic, so there is no way to pre-mix color between the nozzle and the filament. The timing tells you something too. The earliest listing went up August 3. The Chinese press wrote about it on August 19. Bambu had been staffing this for sixteen days before it became news, which is roughly how the company has handled every launch.
Building seriously and shipping next year aren’t the same claim. Between them sit manufacturing, an ink and consumables supply chain, and a support operation for a machine that clogs if you ignore it. The Chinese trade outlet Huxiu, in a long piece on rival HeyGears, summed up the pattern this way: a Bambu-style hit is never a single technical win, it needs technology, cost, content, channel, and after-sales all clearing the bar together. HeyGears founder Gui Peiyan gave that outlet the more generous version, crediting Bambu with a sharper read on what buyers actually want. UV printing puts a consumables business and a maintenance burden into a company whose reputation was built on machines that mostly just run.
